Blackcurrant - 'Ben Sarek'

A superb variety, producing mouth-watering fruit in abundance from mid July-mid August, well presented on short strigs. Ideal for smaller gardens, with a maximum height of 90cm (3'), the bushy plants show good resistance to mildew and frost. Ideal for freezing. Royal Horticultural Society 'Award of Garden Merit' winner.

Forms a small compact bush yet remains very high yielding. The berries are unusually large and ripen at the same time as those of Ben Lomond. Resistant to mildew. Blossom is frost resistant. The flavour is good.

Blackcurrant - 'Ben Lomand'

Hybrid with a compact habit bearing large fruit which have a good flavour: Heavy cropper, offers some resistance to frost.

Ben Lomond is one of the most popular commercial varieties. It ripens its fruit during the last days of July. The bush is moderately vigorous, compact and requires the minimum of pruning. It is late flowering and resistant to cold. The flavour is good.

Blackcurrant - 'Big Ben'

Large hanging clusters of lovely black currants. Upright, vigorous bushes grow 3 to 4 feet tall. Black currants make great preserves and are very high in vitamin C. Wellington is a strong producer and is very hardy. Strong multi-branched plant supplied in a 2 Litre pot.

Blackcurrant 'Ben Hope'

A new late season variety ripening 10 days after Ben Lomond, very high yields of medium sized berries, the flavour is excellent with a real blackcurrant aroma, In addition Ben Hope is a very good grower, rather vigorous but upright in habit and easy to manage, it is resistant to mildew, leaf spot and gall midge. It has been suggested that Ben Hope would be a good choice for poorer growing conditions and absent minded gardeners!

White Currant Bush - 'White Versailles'

Ribes rubrum 'White Versailles'Currants are winter hardy, and will grow in most climatic zones. An added bonus is that they can be grown in areas that may be too wet and shady for other fruit. Currants grow well in most soils, although the preference is for a heavier soil, with a pH of 5.5 - 6.7. A dressing of lime can be added to the soil if it is too acidic. Excellent flavour, heavy cropping. Reliable in every way.One of the few varieties of whitecurrant available. The fruit is large, light yellow and sweet, ready for harvesting early July. Ribes rubrum 'Redstart' is a late variety with consistent and heavy crop. Medium fruit size.

Very prolific red currant. Enormous fruit trusses. This variety is quite exceptional.
